過去這個週末在中國多個大城市發生的反對“清零”政策抗議活動在推特上引起討論。除了讚揚參與抗議的普通中國民眾的勇氣之外,觀察人士們也對這場抗議接下來可能的走向和影響做出了分析。
從11月25日開始,包括北京、上海、廣州、武漢、重慶、烏魯木齊在內的多個中國城市爆發街頭抗議,要求結束長達三年的嚴格的新冠“清零”措施。這場抗議由民眾對烏魯木齊一場大火中10名喪生者的悼念活動發展而來。許多人懷疑死者之所以未能及時逃離是因為封城措施阻礙了他們的出逃。官方對此做出了否認。
抗議已經引發警察對抗議者的逮捕和網絡上對相關資訊的審查。《紐約時報》報導,北京周一(11月28日)晚間的抗議人數已經大規模下降。警察在一些城市的街頭也開始檢查普通市民的手機內容。
耶魯法學院教授張泰蘇分析說:“我不預期接下來幾天裡會有許多大規模的抗議---政府有足夠的能力預防它們發生---但依據中國的社媒來判斷,公眾對政治失去信任的情況已經很普遍,而且很可能是長期的。”

中國抗議者在威權統治和監控下站出來發聲的行為讓不少人感到欽佩。
《紐約時報》駐亞洲科技記者孟建國(Paul Mozur)對一段上海民眾在烏魯木齊中路上抗議的視頻評論說:“對於那些最近沒有在中國生活過的人來說,上海市那部分區域的攝像頭密集程度是無法想像的。每個街區起碼有十多個。警察會逐一查看來尋找主要的發起人,並在抗議現場之外逮捕他們。在這裡顯露面容真的很勇敢。”

美國評論人士章家敦(Gordan Chang)也表示:“在中國寂靜之時,我們可以確定的是中共正在抓捕抗議者。為這些勇敢的靈魂祈禱。”

專家們認為這場大規模抗議已經給中國政府在是否結束“清零”上造成了難題。
專注亞太青年文化和政治的《破土》雜誌編輯丘琦欣(Brian Hioe)寫道:“有關中國目前的抗議,基本上無論往哪一條路上前進,都將會出現混亂。假設中共放鬆新冠'清零'---那一定會導致病例的上升,醫療系統也許沒有足夠的能力來處理。結果就是,經濟會受到重創。所有這些都將進一步損害中共的信用度,他們將太多的政治資本壓在新冠'清零'上了。”

自從1989年的學生運動以來,這是中國第一次出現全國范圍內、民眾自發的政治抗議活動。儘管如此,在中國的網絡上,依然有不少有影響力的“愛國”博主在沒有證據的情況下,指責“境外勢力”是抗議的幕後黑手。中國外交部發言人趙立堅也在周一的記者會上稱“一些別有用心的勢力”將烏魯木齊大火和“清零”政策聯繫在一起。
這樣的說法遭到觀察人士們的批評。
《經濟學人》駐上海記者唐·韋恩蘭德(Don Weinland)表示:“把抗議的責任歸到'境外勢力'頭上不僅剝奪了中國民眾反對糟糕政策發聲的主動性,也讓中國的安全官員看起來很糟,怎麼能讓外國人在中國各大城市誘發抗議?”
